Assistant Professor of Educational Technology, College of Education School of Teaching and Learning

Fall '25 - Spring '26 | Dr. Rob Moore

Assistant Professor of Educational Technology

Dr. Rob Moore is an Assistant Professor of Educational Technology in the University of Florida College of Education’s School of Teaching and Learning and directs the IDEATE Research Lab in the Institute for Advanced Learning Technologies. He will serve as an AI Faculty Fellow for 2025–26, facilitating the AI RiTL Faculty Learning Community. Since joining UF through its AI faculty hiring initiative, he has co-facilitated panels on AI privacy and ethics, interdisciplinary collaboration, and AI integration into teaching and learning. He has co-authored studies on learner personas in MOOCs, generative AI for automated feedback and teaching, and cognitive engagement in Packback versus Canvas text-based discussion forums. In collaboration with UFIT, he co-developed protocols for Canvas data access to enable granular analysis of UF courses with integrated AI tools.

Dr. Moore conducts learning analytics using machine learning techniques, including clustering and latent profile analysis, and predictive models such as classification and regression. His research examines how digital ecologies, especially microcredentials and massive open online courses (MOOCs), shape learner behavior and motivation. Combining systems and design thinking with these methods, he uncovers insights that drive transformative pathways into STEM careers. His microcredential work earned a College of Education Innovation and Teaching Initiative Award and has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Spencer Foundation.
