Dr. Carla N. Mavian is an assistant professor and associate director for international relations and surveillance at the Emerging Pathogens Institute.  Her research spans pathogen genomics, phylodynamics, and machine-learning pipelines to model viral evolution, zoonotic transmission, and climate-driven outbreak risk in biodiversity-threatened regions.
