A University of Florida research team is working on a robot dog that has the ability to enter an enclosed space, scan it, and provide humans with a visual of what’s inside, an application that could lessen dangerous situations for first responders.
“If successful, this device will tell you how fresh produce is and help food transporters and packing houses better time shipments, increasing efficiency and providing fresher food for the consumer. Think of it like facial recognition, but instead of identifying faces, the device would identify freshness level,” Assistant Professor Tie Liu said.

Any undergraduate student at Florida is eligible to work towards the Certificate in AI Fundamentals and Applications, no matter your major. The nine-credit certificate has two required courses (Ethics, Data and Technology; and Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence), and you select one elective that is approved for the certificate. It's that simple. Three courses can lead you to earn an AI Certificate which will keep you ahead of the trends in your field of study, ahead of the curve when applying for internships, and propel you forward in forging solutions for real-world change.
With courses across the curriculum, AI is accessible at any level of interest.
