Kati Migliaccio

Professor and Dean, College of Agricultural and Biological Sciences

Kati Migliaccio started in 2005 at the UF/IFAS Tropical Research and Education Center focusing on water conservation, considering quality or quantity, and hydrology with a goal to identify realistic and sustainable solutions. She applied engineering principles to better manage water to meet growing population needs under increasing water supply uncertainty – considering climate change, disrupters in the system, and competing water users. Dr. Migliaccio has experience in different types of systems, including agricultural, natural, and urban. As a faculty member, she was instrumental in developing some of the first Smartphone Apps for irrigation management that incorporated crop specific models and linked to real-time data.

In 2018, Dr. Migliaccio started a leadership role in ABE as Chair of the department. A few of her focus areas as Chair include undergraduate research and recruitment, the UF Artificial Intelligence initiative, building partnerships with others outside of UF, and launching a new online MS program. She is a Fellow, American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and a Professional Engineer (P.E.).
