Instructional Assistant Professor, College of Health and Human Performance

Matthew J. Terza Ph.D., CSCS is an Instructional Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology at UF, where he teaches courses in biomechanics, kinetic anatomy, and biomechanical instrumentation. His teaching emphasizes active learning, hands-on lab experiences, and integrating emerging technologies to enhance student engagement and understanding. He has experience incorporating technology into undergraduate and graduate education, including motion capture systems, force platforms, and wearable sensors. His courses challenge students to analyze and interpret human movement data. As AI continues to transform higher education, he is interested developing discipline-specific applications of AI for learning and teaching specifically in creating assignments that use AI to facilitate students' ability to analyze and interpret these biomechanical data.  He participated in the UF Center for Teaching Excellence's Faculty Learning Community on AI for Teaching and Learning Enhancement, where he collaborated with colleagues across disciplines to explore effective, ethical, and innovative uses of AI in higher education. Through his teaching and curriculum development efforts, Terza seeks to prepare students to thoughtfully leverage AI and other emerging technologies while maintaining strong foundations in critical thinking, scientific reasoning, and human-centered education.
