Rui Tammy Huang

Clinical Assistant Professor, College of Education

Rui (Tammy) Huang is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Computer Science Education and Educational Technology in the School of Teaching and Learning, College of Education. She is also Program Coordinator for Computer Science Education. Her work centers on AI-augmented teaching and learning, learning experience design, and project-based and game-based learning.

Since 2023, she has designed a five-stage framework that helps K-16 educators learn programming with GenAI. She refined it over three design-based research cycles with the students, who are practitioner educators. Under her mentorship, many master's students have built AI education capstones they can use right away in their own schools, districts, or institutes, such as PD workshops for high school CS teachers to an AI ethics micro-credential for teens and an "Exploring AI" unit for middle school students.

As program coordinator, she reviews the program's courses constantly to keep pace with AI in education. She leads the development of new AI courses, such as AI Practice in Teaching and Learning, and maps the AI competencies taught in existing courses, so students build them across the program.
